Irish session
chess pieces

These chess pieces are based on the famous 12th-century Isle of Lewis set now in the British Museum, except that each piece is playing a musical instrument associated with traditional Irish music.

The King plays uilleann pipes, the Queen plays fiddle, the Bishop plays concertina, the Knight plays harp, and the Rook plays tin whistle. The Pawns are standing stones. There are alternate pieces available: Bishop with banjo, and Rook with flute.

Individually hand made and painted, each piece will vary slightly from those pictured, and each will be made to order and to your personal specifications.
